Christmas Bingo
Keeping track of BINGO numbers
If you want the magic of Christmas morning to last longer, this is a great game! I already had a BINGO cage and balls, but feel free to just write the numbers on pieces of paper and put in a bowl.
First, I divide all of the presents into 5 categories. For our family, we use: something you want, something you need (hobby/sport/etc), something to wear and something to read. The last category is the big gift.
Next, I write everything out to keep track of who gets what, and who has which numbers.
KEEPING TRACK OF BINGO NUMBERS
(I have pictures below, just in case the links don’t work for you.)
I use this sheet to keep track of which numbers I have used: BINGO SHEET
Filling it in…
I start wrapping presents and put the numbers on the packages.
Make cards for each person who is playing. Heads up, my husband and I always play! It’s not just for the kids. Link for BINGO cards.
Look at your cheat sheet and add each person’s numbers in a pattern that they could win the BINGO game.
Once finished, fill in the empty spots with numbers not used (the numbers you haven’t crossed out). Then cut out the cards to give to everyone on Christmas morning.
Next, if you have a BINGO cage and balls, put only the assigned numbers in the cage. If you are writing it out and putting in a bowl, only write down the assigned numbers on individual pieces of paper.
Pass out the cards and let the fun begin!
*Warning* There is a chance that a person won’t get a present for a very long time. This happens every year! In our house, everyone laughs as that person has to wait. Our record is 19 presents being opened before my son was able to open one. But it’s all in good fun! Eventually all the presents get opened.
Helpful hint, if you have anyone who is dyslexic, make sure they get the right present! (Trust me, it happens…)
I know this is crazy. Believe me, I know! But I can’t even express how much fun it is. The laughter and holding of breath, as we hope our number is called. The giggles as a person hunts for their gift (especially if someone else knows where it is).
For me, that’s what it is all about. Not the gifts. Not the meal. It’s making memories and enjoying the holiday together.
